Experience
Mike has been a Federal tax professional since 1973, with 33 of those years working for the IRS. Upon retiring from the IRS, Mike served at PwC as a lead member of the firm’s national IRS Service Team. While at PwC, he worked with IRS revenue agents throughout the country on examinations of companies in a variety of industries. Specifically, Mike worked with the IRS audit personnel on determining the scope of the audits being conducted, responding to information document requests, discussing IRS practice and procedures and resolving examination issues. Mike has represented a number of companies in IRS Appeals and has secured very favorable outcomes. He also has significant experience in the transfer pricing area and has taught transfer pricing classes in various countries throughout the world. Mike has significant knowledge regarding the various IRS international filing requirements and potential penalties associated with those requirements. Mike has also provided assistance to a large insurance company under examination by the IRS. While at the IRS, Mike was responsible for managing domestic and international examiners assigned to both domestic and international feature tax returns primarily in the southeastern United States. His last position at the IRS was an International Territory Manager where he had 8 to 10 international managers reporting to him. As part of his IRS role, Mike had responsibilities in various states around the country including, but not limited to, Georgia, Florida, the Carolinas, Michigan, Ohio and Indiana. Mike maintains a deep network of IRS personnel contacts throughout the United States and works with his former colleagues at the IRS on a regular basis. Education/Certifications Mike earned his B.B.A. in Accounting from the University of Georgia and is also a Georgia licensed and registered CPA. |
